Always NEW FILE when opening plasticity
planned
Roman Tikhonov
This is really strange behaviour to left previous file loading as the basic behaviour. Suppose i have a HUUUUGE lagging file which i cannot handle and its ruining my workflow i just close the plasticity. and i want on my second opening that it will be clean and clear to start thinking about how to handle it. But no. Now i must wait another half an hour. This is irrelevant thinking.
Thats why all softwares all over the world starts from blanc.

Not in favor of this at all and think it would be a retrograde step. What's the problem with seeing your last piece of work when you start Plasticity? Is it too much work for you to go the the menu and select New file? Come on guys surely you're not so lazy that this is too great an effort for you?
Tom Lai
It is potentially embarrassing to launch Plasticity in front of a new client. Shows what you were working last. It may not be desirable to show competitive work from the previous session!
David Widmer
Could do it like blender, be able to set your own launch file in one click - like other comments, able to set your own desired behaviour is top

I prefer to be an option. Sometimes I forget to save and launch last project is nice.

Nick Kallen Personally I like it that Plasticity shows where you stopped working during your previous session and thought that was a great innovation for your software. I don't want Plasticity to mimic other Windows software just for the sake of saving lazy modellers a couple of seconds accessing the menu to select New file. The restore work point is great when there is a crash as you have instant access to where you were when the program went on holiday, which happens from time to time.

I am for an option in preferences but then there must be an Open recent... or an Open last saved.
Kiwivi
Potentially instead just have an options in preferences to launch with last project or launch blank. Personally launching last project fits me the best but if enough people want that as a feature I would rather it be toggleable instead of a forced one or other

I like the current behaviour (autoload last scene), but having a choice is always a good thing.
Nick Kallen
You can always type escape during any file open, including when the app starts

Nick Kallen: It's doesn't work

Nick Kallen: The desire for total simplification eventually leads to greater complexity. People don't have enough memory to remember everything hotkeys in just one program (there are other tasks in life), and betting on motor skills is also not effective for use.

Or it could show a splash screen with options to open recent files, open another file, etc.
Gregori Vorontsov
The Fuzz: No splash screen please, blank file with an option to open recents is the way to go

Gregori Vorontsov: better yet - preference in settings to choose startup behaviour.
BunnyViking
Gregori Vorontsov: agreed, boo to splash screens. We got rid of landing pages on the web, now we fight to remove unnecessary splash screens from apps ! (to be fair im fine with the tutorial style splash screens that have a 'never show this again' checkbox, they make sense for new users)

Gregori Vorontsov: completely agree. As a lifetime 3Ds Max user… I’m done with splash screens that take far too long to load.
