Just seen a few requests for this - seems to be a quick alternative to the drag copy in outliner, especially when just needing a flat material color.
Assume it's a minor and easy addition, so submitting it on their behalf.

In complex scene simple managing of "clipboard" or "scene appeared colors" could be useful. Of course it could be resolved in minimalistic way as a grid of colored rectangles
