FBX import/Export
Jordan 'Mossy' Moss
Having the ability to import/export FBX would ease workflow between applications over the outdated OBJ import/export. A lot of current modelling applications such as 3ds max require the most latest version in order to export obj with normal/smoothing information correctly and hasn't been an industry standard for the past 10 years.

This could potentially enable the use of calibrated cameras for photo reference.

Another game changer feature for me

I too would enjoy this (there are other good formats, but FBX is still the most universal). Hopefully autodesk will stop being jerks and add gltf support one day.

A big yes to this. And having multiple sub-objects within the exported files would be excellent for rendering etc.

Yeah OBJ is far outdated for use in 3ds Max and not applicable for quality work

DCC's have usually trouble to load .obj with ngones. Looks like blender is doing it well, but others like Modo will create wrong winding, generating lot's inverted poly. .FBX is more robust in that regard.

PaQ WaK: Ngons are quite fundamental when making assets for games too and i never use obj for this exact reason. Ngons are much more robust on FBX format and are much easier to work with than triangulated meshes where the polys are not quads because in almost every single case i want to triangulate flat ngons by hand as i need it, since the triangulation algorithms almost never produce the expected result. I would expect to have ngons only on flat faces though, the rest can be tris or quads
