When working on an isolated object(s) it can be useful to add another object to that isolation or remove an object from it.

I picture this as selecting an object(s) from the list and use Shift-period for adding. Or selecting one or more objects and Ctrl-period for removing it from the isolation. Now we have to undo an isolation (or more isolations in a row) and reselect for isolation.
