Scale to a specific size

Currently, the Scale tool works with scale factors, which means if I have an object that is 15.5" and want it to be exactly 14", I first need to calculate the correct scale factor externally. It would be incredibly useful to have an option to simply enter the desired final dimension.

Nick Kallen Of course, Freestyle partially solves this problem, but what about organic shapes that need to fit within specific dimensional limits?
The issue with organic shapes is that it is not always possible to locate and snap to the extreme peak point of a curved surface that defines the boundary of the bounding box.
Ignazio Lacitignola proposed a simple way to scale much faster in such cases. SketchUp has this feature, and it’s a +1 for accuracy—without the hassle.

you realize you can type 14/15.5 right in the dialog ie X Y or Z?
Number(measurement) you want divided by the current number(measurement)

This is one of the most frustrating parts of this software for me. I need to be able to give it a very specific measurement and have it scale. I don't do math well and I don't want to have to for this.
