Being able to save a material and build up one's own library of sorts would be greatly helpful even in the absence of a more developed library like those found in other cad programs.

I didn't think this was that big of a deal until I started delving in to making a material library to "import" in. but you cannot import materials. Import/Append appears to lose materials - so...
Material presets would be great. As well as being able to change the default material.

Yes- a material library would be a great timesaver. In general an asset library would be great.

I already requested the ability to create/import our own matcaps: https://plasticity.canny.io/feature-requests/p/import-our-own-matcaps

For me this is not priority. Plasticity is for modeling. It needs to be kept as simple as possible. Implementing materials Leads to the wish of more realistic materials leads to a render engine… therefore we have other applications… m2 cents

Oliver Hecke: i think you misunderstood the purpose. I've never expected this request to be a priority nor to end up as a render engine (for final renders i personally use Cycles, Keyshot or Light Render). Nick implemented a material panel with settings, no? Presets (even better, custom presets) would save time, so handy to have a global vision and probably highlight design incoherences.

Easy upvote! This would be insanely useful for those who don't want to use other software to render. Saving so much time recreating similar/identical materials between models would be a huge boon. I'd recommend making custom presets a thing too, we could share them on the discord and build up a library of settings that people would be able to simply apply all kinds of material types that they downloaded.
